Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising foundation. Our mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.

About:
Established in 1996, the inspiration for Boarding For Breast Cancer was a young woman named Monica Steward. Monica, who was a very dear friend of all B4BC founders, started her battle with breast cancer at the age of 26 and passed two years later from complications rising from the disease.
"Boarding For Breast Cancer was founded as a result of Monica voicing her frustration with the lack of awareness among young women about the disease to friends and future co-founders, Lisa Hudson, Tina Basich, Shannon Dunn, and Kathleen Gasperini. Their idea was to create an event that centered around their mutual passions - snowboarding and music, to communicate the message of awareness, raise money for research and educate young women about breast cancer.
Monica Steward passed away a month later just three months before her inaugural Boarding For Breast Cancer event. Today B4BC serves as a tribute to Monica's life and a way to ensure that young women approach their own health from a better-informed position.

Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising organization. Our mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle. B4BC targets young people (aged 16 to 30), who are more likely to believe - erroneously - that breast cancer is only the concern of women middle-aged and older.
Throughout the year B4BC educators hit the road with our traveling educational booth making stops at dozens of sports and music events such as the ESPN X Games, US Open of Snowboarding & Surfing and Vans Warped Tour educating over 100,000 young adults about the importance of Early Detection + Active Lifestyle = Best Prevention.

What we do:
TEACH
We teach awareness and provide information to empower people managing the effects of Breast Cancer in their lives.
INSPIRE
We believe that Breast Cancer is not a death sentence and that battling the disease can provide optimism and hope.
ADVOCATE
We serve as an advocate for those affected by Breast Cancer. A place to tell their stories and speak the truth of their feelings about Breast Cancer
SERVE
We serve the Action sports community, a passionate group of people who share a love of an active lifestyle through snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing.
