We also assist with job assessment, training and placement assistance. Veterans First strongly believes the most effective programs for homeless and at-risk veterans are, "veterans helping veterans" in a structured, substance-free environment with fellow veterans who are succeeding at bettering themselves. Presently we have four transitional houses in the City of Santa Ana: a single working man’s residence with 7 beds; a disability house for men and women with 18 beds; a working single men and women’s house with 18 beds and a house with 10 beds for veterans with dependents. We supply furnishings as well as deliver weekly food boxes to veterans who have Section 8 housing, or are house-bound (disabled) and/or those at-risk (low-income) veterans and their families. In October of 2007, an assisted living facility with 24 beds will be opened. We will provide to single homeless and disabled veterans (men and women) a permanent home with 24-hour services to assist them with daily living. | |
