Detailed Description: Our Mission: Our mission is dedicated to supporting children, youths and their families during and after their transition from a crisis situation. Our Vision: We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for children, youths and families by creating a nurturing and learning environment not only for the families but also the community. Our Values: Mutual Enrichment Service Lifelong Learning Holistic Well-being There are four major goals for the Mt.Olive Outreach Center and specific objectives with each of the goals. Goal # 1- To close the digital divide between the lower and upper socio-economic groups. Objective #1.1 To provide After School Technology to meet the needs of our growing population. Objective #1.2 To assist K-12 youth, young adults, and at risk youth, high school dropouts, and welfare recipients for our after school tutorial and up to 15 adults for occupational computer training Objective 1.3 Our organizations want to provide a comprehensive after school program that will offer tutoring with the assistance of computers, the Internet, and a knowledgeable staff. In addition to providing subject -matter educational assistance, students will be taught how to use computers and the Internet to assist them in their educational pursuits. Goal #2. To Provide a community center and recreation for youths. Objective #2.1 To provide youths with comprehensive programs which employ all the resources currently available to improve outcomes for children’s of all ages. Objective #2.2 To assist the children in their education, enhance youth development and mentoring activities. Objective #2.3 To improve the lives of children and families in poverty (key issues include education, crime and violence prevention) Goal #3 To reduce the degree malnutrition among poverty level children, youths and families. Objective #3.1 To provide children, youths and families with emergency food assistance Objective #3.2 To assist families in learning how to effectively apply health and nutrition information in helping their young children to be more healthy. Objective #3.3 To assist elderly community members by delivering meals to the home bound weekly or monthly. Goal#4 Youth & Teen Action provides many opportunities for growth. Objective #4.1 An outreach Program assists teens, age 13-18, in becoming more successful in school. Objective #4.2 Harrisville Teen Program is an exciting program that involves teens in fun, constructive and educational activities in a safe environment by engaging them in development of the program itself. Objective #4.3 Drop-in activities are available to youth ages 6-18 and include such activities as arts & crafts, young women's group, and young men's group. | |
