Detailed Description: Organizational Information

CMARC is a not for profit organization incorporated in 1968 to serve individuals who are developmentally and physically disabled. CMARC was established by a group of concerned parents to address the needs of their adult siblings with disabilities.

Originally supported entirely by parent contributions, the CMARC programs currently receive funding from the Department of Mental Retardation, Division of Medical Assistance and Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. In September of 1977, CMARC began its current vocational program in its modern facility with thirty workers and a staff of six. CMARC currently serves over one hundred and ninety handicapped citizens and employs a staff of seventy.

· Supported Work
· Intensive Behavioral Services
· Evaluation and Placement Services
· Day Habilitation
· Transportation
· Individual and School Support
· Residential Services

The Central Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens main offices and vocational program are located in Woburn, Massachusetts. Residential programs are located in Lexington, Reading and Wilmington. CMARC provides services to citizens from a large number of communities including: Woburn, Burlington, Lexington, Waltham, Reading, Cambridge, Medford and Wilmington. Our service area stretches from Greater Boston to Littleton and Maynard and up to the North Shore.

CMARC is accredited by The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, CARF with the highest accreditation of three years. In addition, CMARC’s programs are certified by the state through QUEST with a two year program certificate.
