WTEF offers programs year-round. Started in 1955, WTEF developed from an organization that helped promising junior tennis players succeed to an organization dedicated to helping at-risk children realize their potential. Today, the mission of WTEF is to improve the life prospects of DC area youth, particularly those from lower-income communities, by providing athletic, academic and life-skills activities that teach discipline, build self-esteem and improve academic performance. OBJECTIVES Each year thousands of area kids benefit from WTEF programs that: 1. Keep children off city streets and engaged in tennis and other productive activities that instill pride and discipline. 2. Help children improve their academic performance and make choices that enhance rather than endanger their lives. 3. Provide opportunities for talented athletes to obtain college scholarships through developing their tennis and academic skills. | |
