Detailed Description: Pioneer Potlatch provides congregate and home delivered hot meals and supportive services to persons 55 years of age and older. These services also apply to handicapped or disadvantaged persons. This valid service combats hunger, isolation and loneliness. Pioneer Potlatch is a non-profit, tax exempt Oregon Charitable organization. For efforts over the years, Potlatch volunteers received the 635th “Daily Point of Light” Award given by President George Bush in 1992. Cooperative efforts of The United Way, local businesses, compassionate private citizens, local civic organizations and churches all play a role in funding Pioneer Potlatch. The mainstay of the program is volunteers and large volumes of donated food. A donation of $2.50 is asked for each meal at the Dining Centers, however no one is refused services because of a lack of funds.
