There is a great number of people sleeping in chairs and on the floor at the hospitals because they can not afford motels and have no where else to go. Since opening in February 1982, we have been a temporary “home-away-from-home” 68,887 times for 19,770 individuals. The majority of our guests are from Kentucky but many are from other parts of the country as well. Many will stay one or two nights, but some will stay as long as six weeks. For many, it is a time of emotional, spiritual, and financial stress. Our facility allows our guests to maintain some personal dignity during this extremely difficult time by providing a clean bed, shower, laundry facilities, telephone and hot meals. This is all provided to each guest without a fee.
