We seek to provide innovative as well as traditional approaches to solve problems and to address the identified needs of the people in and around Placer County. Sierra Family Services began as a grass roots response to community counseling needs in Roseville in the late 1960's and incorporated in 1970 as Roseville Area Youth Services (RAYS). In 1981, RAYS merged with Placer Awareness House in Auburn to become Sierra Family Services, Inc., acquiring a third center at North Tahoe permitting the provision of county wide services. Within the last several years, our agency has expanded to include Parental services for recovering women with young children, Domestic Violence and Anger Management services in English and Spanish, and Animal Assisted Therapy services. Sierra Family Services, Inc. provides substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling to children, adolescents and adults. Our ability to provide service extends beyond Placer County with mental health crisis management contract services in Nevada and Colusa counties. Our collaborative efforts permit us to provide services in the City of Lincoln in conjunction with the Light House Resource Center, elementary schools with help from a Roseville City Grant. Cooperative relationships are long-standing with several health and human services departments in Placer County including the Adult System of Care, Children’s System of Care and the Courts. Sierra Family Services has a quality reputation not only within the mental health and substance abuse treatment arena but within the academic community as well. We have been known as a teaching facility and excellent training resource among California colleges and universities. As we look toward the future, we maintain our commitment to those we serve, reconfirm our strength in existing partnerships and endeavor to enhance and expand our ability to provide the highest quality services. | |
