CCHR’s primary goal is to provide the general public with the facts they need for a better understanding of the social, medical, economic and legal effects of certain psychiatric practices and treatments. It also will seek to protect the public against increasing encroachment on individual rights and civil liberties that results from psychiatry’s impingement on society. CCHR’s objectives are to bring these matters to the attention of the public and relevant governmental entities and to encourage a more responsible approach to mental healing that respects the human and civil rights of all individuals concerned. CCHR will achieve its goals through an extensive program of objective educational and outreach activities. It will conduct research, publish educational literature, serve as a national informational clearinghouse, sponsor seminars and educational events, and engage in other public outreach and educational activities. | |
