The Corazon de Vida Foundation is the foremost U.S. Charity providing funding, services and support to aid the plight of Mexico's abandoned and orphaned children. Founded in 1994, their vision is to eradicate child homelessness in Baja, Mexico by the year 2020. CDV directly allocates 90% of every dollar raised to the orphanages it funds.
Mexico's population is estimated at 90 million, of which nearly 50% are under the age of 18. Thousands of these children are orphaned or abandoned annually due to the death of one or both parents; a family's inability to financially support its children; an abusive home environment; or emigration of one or both parents to the United States. Without any living relatives to intervene, many of these children are forced to roam Mexico's most impoverished cities, alone. There, they live and sleep on hostile streets, begging for food or money, suffering from malnutrition, sickness, desperation and neglect.
Through fundraising, outreach and corporate support CDV is transforming the young lives of Baja and the conditions they must endure. However, conditions remain critical for hundreds of innocent lives tolerating substandard orphanage conditions with over 6,000 children living on the streets just across the border as close as 15 minutes away from the United States.
In Spanish, Corazon de Vida means "Heart of Life." CDV is making a difference. You can, too. We invite you to join us on one of our monthly trips to Baja, Mexico for a life affirming experience.
